Zhandong Su (Dr.) Guest researcher
Zhandong received his Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from the Jilin University (China) in 2015. He is an assistant professor at the Institute of Disaster Prevention which is affiliated to China Earthquakes Administration (CEA), and he is currently a visiting scholar at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences in Section 2.6 Seismic Hazard and Risk Dynamics. Zhandong received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for his project “Relationship between local stress of strike-slip fault and tectonic stress and fault activity” in 2018. He currently works in stress reorientation by earthquakes near Ganzi-Yushu strike-slip fault and interpretation with discrete element modeling with Jeoung Seok and Aron. Zhandong has received the Promising Young Scientist Award from International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction (ICGdR) in 2017
Zhandong's expertise is:
  • Rock mass stress field and fault activity
  • Geological disasters triggered by earthquakes
  • Acoustic emission characteristics of rock under different stress paths
