GeoCoupledProcess Modelling and GeoHazardRisk Analysis
Jeoung Seok Yoon (Prof. Dr.) Founder & Managing Director
js.yoon@dynafrax.com
Jeoung Seok leads DynaFrax's scientific programming and technology development, as well as strategic planning. Jeoung Seok received his Ph.D. in Geosystem Engineering from Seoul National University (Korea) in 2007. Jeoung Seok's Ph.D. work was awarded The Rocha Runner Up Certificate by the International Rock Mechanics Society (ISRM) in 2010. Jeoung Seok worked at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam German Research Centre for Geosciences since 2012, where he developed the THM coupled process simulator on the basis of Distinct Element Modelling software, Particle Flow Code from the Itasca Consulting Group (USA). Together with Hanne, Jeoung Seok received Helmholtz Enterprise funding from the Helmholtz Association (Impulse and Network Fund) for his Helmholtz Enterprise project "DcubeRoc". Since April 2019, Jeoung Seok works as the CEO of DynaFrax and leads several projects in the fields of nuclear waste disposal, geothermal and shale gas reservoir induced seismicity.
From 2022 January, Jeoung Seok is appointed as Adjunct Professor at School of Spatial Environment System Engineering at Handong Global University in Pohang, Korea.
Jeoung Seok's expertise is:
-

Anne Strader (Dr.) Staff scientist
anne.strader@dynafrax.com
Anne works as a full-time staff scientist of DynaFrax. She received her Ph.D. in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014. From 2015 to 2018, Anne worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam German Research Centre for Geosciences in the Section 2.6 Seismic Hazard and Risk Dynamics, focusing on the development and testing of physics-based earthquake forecast models. Her research concentrates on the role of static and dynamic Coulomb stress transfer in earthquake triggering, and she has developed physics-based seismicity models for Japan, California and Nepal, as well as collaborated on the development of the upcoming second version of the Global Earthquake Activity Rate Model (GEAR2). Shea has also participated in numerous earthquake forecast experiments with the Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability (CSEP).
Anne's expertise is:
-
Earthquake physics and the role of Coulomb stress transfer in earthquake triggering
-
Development of physics- and statistics-based seismicity models
-
Earthquake forecast evaluation through the Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability (CSEP) testing center

Stefan Bredemeyer (Dr.) Consultant
stefan.bredemeyer@dynafrax.com
Stefan Bredemeyer works as a consultant for Dynafrax. From 2010 to 2017 he worked as researcher in research Units “Magmatic and Hydrothermal Systems” and “Dynamics of The Ocean Floor” at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research and received his PhD in Geoscience from the University in Kiel, Germany in 2017. From 2018 to 2020 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Section 2.1 “Physics of Earthquakes and Volcanoes” of the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam German Research Centre for Geosciences. Since 2017 and respectively 2020, he is active as a guest researcher in his former work groups at both, GEOMAR and GFZ Potsdam. In his research Stefan developed and applied methods for the combined analysis and interpretation of multi-parameter volcano monitoring data with special focus on the chemistry and quantification of volcanic gas emissions. Furthermore, he is expert in remote sensing and spatial analysis of landscape change caused by natural disasters (e.g. following earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, tsunamis, etc…) using airborne and satellite-based sensors.
Stefan's expertise is:
-
Volcanism and volcanic hazards
-
Chemistry and physics of hydrothermal and magmatic fluids
-
Formation and evolution of hydrothermal and magmatic systems
-
