Jeoung Seok Yoon (Dr.) Founder & Managing Director

Jeoung Seok leads DynaFrax's scientific programming and technology development, as well as strategic planning. Jeoung Seok received his Ph.D. in Geosystem Engineering from Seoul National University (Korea) in 2007. Jeoung Seok's Ph.D. work was awarded The Rocha Runner Up Certificate by the International Rock Mechanics Society (ISRM) in 2010. Jeoung Seok worked at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam German Research Centre for Geosciences since 2012, where he developed the THM coupled process simulator on the basis of Distinct Element Modelling software, Particle Flow Code from the Itasca Consulting Group (USA). Jeoung Seok received Helmholtz Enterprise funding from the Helmholtz Association (Impulse and Network Fund) for his Helmholtz Enterprise project "DcubeRoc". Since April 2019, Jeoung Seok works as the CEO of DynaFrax and leads several projects in the fields of nuclear waste disposal, geothermal and shale gas reservoir induced seismicity. From 2022 January, Jeoung Seok is appointed as Adjunct Professor at the School of Spatial Environment System Engineering at Handong Global University in Pohang, Korea.

Hannes Hofmann (Prof. Dr.) Co-Founder & Advisor

Hannes advises DynaFrax and brings over 10 years of experience in applied geothermal energy research. Hannes leads the Helmholtz Young Investigator Group "Advanced reservoir engineering concepts for a controlled utilization of geothermal energy in urban areas" at GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam and is Junior Professor of Reservoir Engineering at the Technische Universität Berlin.

Anne Strader (Dr.) Staff scientist

Anne received her Ph.D. in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014. From 2015 to 2018, Anne worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam German Research Centre for Geosciences in the Section 2.6 Seismic Hazard and Risk Dynamics, focusing on the development and testing of physics-based earthquake forecast models. Her research concentrates on the role of static and dynamic Coulomb stress transfer in earthquake triggering, and she has developed physics-based seismicity models for Japan, California and Nepal, as well as collaborated on the development of the upcoming second version of the Global Earthquake Activity Rate Model (GEAR2). Shea has also participated in numerous earthquake forecast experiments with the Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability (CSEP).

Haimeng Shen (Dr.) Staff scientist

Haimeng is in charge of the development project "Development of fluid flow and seismiity model in Particle Flow Code 3D". Haimeng's work focuses on coupled hydr-mechanical processes in fracture media and the integration of advanced numerical tools for laboratory experiments, underground hydraulic stimulation tests, and reservoir scale simulations. Haimeng received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2022. She also works as a post doctoral researcher at the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences

Sara Ansari (Dr.) Computer scientist

Sara works as a Computer scientist of DynaFrax. She received her Ph.D. in Computer science from University of Shiraz, Iran in 2022. Sara is technically in charge of development project of XFracod (see XFracod page).

Jian Zhou (Prof. Dr.) Numerical modeling advisor

Jian works with DynaFrax as an external consultant, but Jian is taking an important role as a strategic advisor of the company's numerical modeling development work. Jian received his Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from the Institute fo Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. He is a Research Associate Professor at the Institute of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering, College of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Beijing University of Technology, BJUT.
